My experiences with the new Nokia N96 Mobile Phone

I have had Nokia mobile phones since the nineties. I've tried other brands during this time, but I always seem to return to a Nokia.

My first experience with the Symbian operating system on a mobile phone was the Nokia 6680. I loved it, but then I had my handset stolen and I wasn't insured.

A little while later, I got the Nokia N70, which was the upgrade to the 6680. I downloaded Opera for Symbian and started to play around with freeware I found on the web. I realised that the mobile phone was developing into a true multi-function device.

When my next contract renewal came about, I went for a Windows Smartphone, to see what I could do with that. Although it functioned fine as a mobile device, it had its limitations. No OS-specific freeware was being developed, apart from Java apps.

So, now I've changed mobile contract and taken a brand-new Nokia N96 mobile phone. And I'm impressed - let me tell you.

It started with a Special Delivery

I ordered my N96 on the Saturday, it was processed on the Monday and I got it on the Tuesday. If anyone's interested, I took up an 02 contract, as it had everything I needed at a good price, and my boyfriend (who is on PAYG on 02) could call me for free.

I picked up my special delivery package from the royal mail sorting office that day. In the box was:

  • USB data transfer cable (doubles as phone charger)
  • Charger for mobile phone
  • TV-out cable
  • Small Pin Nokia Car Charger
  • Small Pin Nokia Mains Charger
  • Earphones
  • Music Player wired remote control
  • Nokia N96 software disk for computer
  • Nokia instruction Manual
Because i had spotted a voucher on the internet, I also got a Jabra bluetooth headset that contained a mains charger for the headset, along with a Car Charger plug that contains a USB socket (so I can connect any of my USB devices up to the car and charge them), along with a USB charger lead for the headset.

I got a contract for £35.00 per month with 600 minutes, 500 texts and the free bolt-on of unlimited browsing.
